In some situations where the transportation
of bombs involved tight corners (circled in red) the americans
built by-pass roads to circumvent these obstacles..
This road (indicated red) ran from
Catleys Farm to the road opposite Brambles Cottage.

At the upper end of the road (opposite
to Brambles Cottage) was a site used by the USAAF for waste disposal.
It was scattered with empty 50 calibre ammunition boxes, empty bomb
fin crates, aircraft flares, distress flares and all manner of munition
rubbish.
A schoolboys haven for mischief.
